Shhh…it’s a surprise

on December 22, 2011

Yesterday (Day 21 of the Christmas Advent) we made….I can’t tell you because it’s a surprise. You’ll have to wait for Christmas day for this one.
We did also make Magic Reindeer Food, which I first heard about from @CocktailDeeva. This is a fantastic idea for the little ones. I found in my Google search that there are many different versions of this so I am sharing with you the version that we used.
To make the food, combine ½ cup of oatmeal, ½ cup of white sugar, ¼ cup of cake sprinkles (we used red and green), I also added some cinnamon to make it smell nice. Mix up all the ingredients; this is where the little ones come in handy because they can mix it up with a spoon or even with their hands. We made a batch large enough for the neighbor kids and a couple of special friends.
Once the ingredients are mixed together you put it in a baggy and attached the following poem to it.
Sprinkle on the lawn at night, the moon will make it sparkle bright! As Santa’s reindeer fly and roam, this will guide them to your home!

We also finished the bells for the tree and hung them up as well. Our tree is coming along nicely.

And for Day 22 we will be sorting through my daughter’s toys. This is an idea I came up with last year and something I hope continues for many years and eventually she will understand the significance of the task.
The idea is to clean out her toy box and donate her old toys that she doesn’t play with anymore or has out grown to a charity for other children to be able to enjoy. Since most toy drives expect a newly packaged toy we can’t donate them to a toy drive, which would be my ultimate, so we will be dropping them off in the new year at a donation site. (Note: if anyone knows of a toy drive that will accept gently used toys please let me know).
Stay tuned to see what’s planned for tomorrow….
