About Me

 The basics…

I have worked as an office manager in the automotive industry, a customer service representative for a marketing company and most recently I   was an account manager for an energy company.  I hold diploma’s in Sport Administration and Business Administration – Marketing.

And the good stuff…

The birth of my daughter in 2009 was also the birth of my new career in the health and wellness industry.  When the company I worked for was sold 2 weeks into my maternity leave I decided it was time to make a change.  What did I really want to do with my life?  I took the opportunity of my maternity leave to ponder this question and I was guided to the health and wellness industry, specifically Reiki treatments at first.

I first became interested in Reiki when I won a free treatment; I had the option of either a massage or a Reiki treatment.  I really didn’t know what Reiki was at the time but I was willing to try something new, so I said sure and things have fallen into place from there.  I walked away from that treatment feeling like I was on cloud nine, literally.  Everyone who saw me commented that I looked very relaxed and ‘spacey’ actually.  The effects of that first treatment have been long-lasting.

I had read that Reiki would be helpful during labour to help control and lessen the labour pains (which it was) and as luck would have it the person who introduced me to Reiki was offering a Level 1 Usui Reiki class.  My husband and I both signed up to complete this training and it was a great experience.

During my maternity leave, pondering what I really wanted to do with my life I attended a Reiki share (a group of Reiki practitioners gather in one location and swap treatments).  This particular event was probably the turning point; it was when I decided that giving people Reiki treatments is really what I wanted to do.  I have always felt as though I needed to do something that gave back to people and this seemed like a perfect opportunity to do just that.

When I give a client a treatment I feel the benefits the Reiki is providing them.  I feel the energy as it moves through their body to the places it needs to be and the release of any energy blockages.  This is a wonderful feeling to experience, as I know that I am helping someone.

At this turning point I started to complete the necessary practical hours to become a Registered Practitioner with the Canadian Reiki Association.   Recently I completed my Level 2 Usui Reiki training.  I have since decided to focus on Pre-Natal Reiki as this is how I got my start in Reiki.  Although I firmly believe that anyone can benefit from Reiki.

Since the beginning of this wonderful journey I have found other interests as well in the health and wellness field.  I have completed Yoga Teacher training in alignment based Hatha yoga.  Yoga has always been something I enjoyed doing and have felt the benefits it has provided to me and I would like to pass on those benefits to others.

I also have my American Sign Language certificate and have been using this knowledge to teach my daughter and extended family some basic baby sign language to help bridge the communication gap.  This past fall I started teaching My Smart Hands baby sign language program to help other care givers communicate with their children.  I have seen the results of this first hand with my daughter and wanted to pass on this wonderful knowledge to others.

Other interests include Chakra Healing and Law of Attraction.  I have always been interested in the effects of the Chakra’s on our physical as well as mental systems and the energies that relate to them.  I have been doing some self-study on this topic recently.  And very recently I was introduced to the Law of Attraction and have been practicing it and studying it to see the effects it can have in my own life.  I have been surprised by some of the outcomes so far and expect greater outcomes as I learn and practice more.

My journey has just started and it has been a wonderful one to date and I am looking forward to what the future holds for me!

In Harmony
